Quick Bites: Sally and Bob’s brings home-cooked comfort with meals new and old in West Hartford
By Blaine Callahan for Hartford Courant
Character and comfort come to mind when you first step into Sally and Bob’s.
The layout is reminiscent of classic, hole-in-the-wall breakfast destinations with modern, vibrant décor. There is room for the whole family and enough menu items to satisfy every palate.
“There’s a lot of prep to be done,” said co-owner Helen Brower. She and her husband, Cesar Contreras, arrive every day at 4 a.m. to begin prep work. “Chopping the vegetables, cooking the meat. We cook the roast beef, corned beef and brisket in-house. Our homemade soups, too. We make everything here.”
Along with a full menu of pancakes, eggs benedict, salads, burgers, and more, Contreras is whipping up weekly specials inspired by his Mexican heritage.
